The Life and Times of William Hodgkins

In 2005, Adam and Liza Hodgkins found that they were expecting their third child. When abnormalities of the heart were discovered at the 19 week ultrasound, they started a journey that would hold incredible emotions and stresses for themselves, their family and certainly for young William Hodgkins when he was born. You can send e-mails to William (or Adam and Liza) on the address: william@hodgkins.com.au

Waiting for surgery

William continues to thrive. He also continues to vomit. There is good news on the horizon though because we finally have a date for his fundoplication. This procedure involves wrapping the top part of the stomach around the oesophagus like a collar and then sewing it back onto itself. It will be done laparoscopically (keyhole surgery) by Dr Guy Henry at Sydney Children's Hospital on 10 July 2007.

Liza beat William to the theatre though with a laparoscopic cholecystectomy a week ago. She has been having gall stone attacks for quite some time now and had been putting off surgery because she did not want it to clash with William's surgery. After we got the date of William's surgery, there was a call to make an appointment for Liza, then a consultation with the surgeon then less than 72 hours after phoning for an appointment, she was recovering from having her gall bladder removed. She has done really well and continues to amaze me with her ability to look after the three kids so soon after an operation.
