William's First Birthday

Today we celebrated a year of William's life. It has been rather an emotional day - this is a real milestone and we can not but help reflect on how wonderful it has been to have our little man here with us a year after he was born and every day in between!
William spent a lovely day at home and spent some time in the fresh air and sunshine - a luxury he did not experience for quite some time after he was born a year ago.
Olivia and Thomas made him birthday cakes and his grandparents and godparents both popped in to see him enjoy cake in the way he knows best. He may not want to eat yet but smearing icing with his hands is a joy any one year old seems to enjoy!

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday we christened William and Thomas.

Easter will always be a time when we reflect on the life of our sons as well as the death and resurrection of Christ.

On Easter Saturday last year William's heart was stopped so that he could undergo major heart surgery to allow him to live.

On Easter Sunday we were sitting in intensive care, looking at William with a mass of tubes and wires emanating from his tiny swollen body, the plastic covering his open chest showing his beating heart. Both then and now we were thanking God for the life of our son given back to us.

It was a lovely service at our local church in Cambewarra. William wore a gown that belonged to my great grandfather.

It was a very special day and it was wonderful to thank God for the lives of our two boys in front of many of the people who had been praying so hard for William.
