Seven Months Old

William was seven months old yesterday. The last month has been fairly uneventful which for us is wonderful!
Liza took William to the Feeding Clinic at Westmead Hospital for Children about four weeks ago. Given that he was not making any progress with continually trying to offer him oral feeds, it was suggested that we give him a month without any oral feeds, the concept being a bit like after a month he may forget he hates this so much. We were to keep him sucking on a dummy and putting non food things in and around his mouth.
So in the past four weeks we have feed him only via the nasogastric tube. A challenge has been to continue to give him enough food in a big enough feed but not have him vomit. It is a challenge that was not successful. He has been vomiting most feeds during the day and while he copes well overnight while he is asleep, he will often start the day with a vomit.
Nonetheless, William is growing and the last time he was weighed, he actually made it onto the normal percentile charts for his weight, length and head circumference! Now only 97% of boys his age are bigger than him!
The past seven months have been hard and we are striving to re-inject some normality into our lives again. Liza brought William to Tom and Liv's swimming lesson this morning and we all went out for breakfast after that. It was really no more hectic than any other family of five, I'm sure!
William pulled out his tube when we arrived home and so of course the camera came out for a few more tube free shots before the tape went back onto his face.
